What is a Virtual 5K?

A Virtual 5K is a race that can be run or walked at any location at any time. 


What is the registration fee?  
The registration fee is $27 per runner. 


As a Team Captain, am I already registered for the race? 
No, Team Captains still need to register for the event if they wish to participate as they need to sign the waiver. 


Can we change team captains? 
Certainly – send an email to and we will be sure to change the captain of your team.


Can we have more than one captain?
Yes, Captains have the ability to set Co-Captains.


If my team captain has registered my spot, do I need to register myself? 
Yes, each runner must register and sign the waiver themselves for legal and safety purposes. 


Can I register as an individual? 
Yes, this event welcomes team and individual runners.


Can my family members register?
Yes, family members are eligible to enter based on company preference.


Is my entry fee tax deductible? 
No. Entry fees are paid to the event production company, not directly to the beneficiary.  The event company, not the participant, makes the donation to the beneficiary.


What are the payment options for teams? 
There are two options: companies can pay for their participants or have their participants pay for themselves. If companies pay for their participating runners, they can elect to pay the full amount or a portion of the registration fee. Companies can pay via credit card or check.

Are there refunds on registration? 
The Syracuse Workforce Run does not issue refunds. No exceptions.


Can I walk the race?
Yes! Runners and walkers are both welcome.  Please note that biking a course is not allowed.


Does the race follow a specific course?

No, you can run or walk anywhere, outside or on a treadmill, as long as it is a 5K (3.1miles). Please abide by the rules of social distancing. No running in groups, except for families who have been living together through the pandemic.  Running with masks is optional. 


How do I get my Syracuse WorkForce Virtual Run bib and shirt?

Your virtual race bib will be shipped with your commemorative event t-shirt.

We encourage you to send us a photo of you running with it. You might be featured on our social media pages!

There will be a Virtual Opening Ceremony for the Syracuse WorkForce Run on Thursday, September 10 at 6:10 PM. 

To receive your bib and t-shirt before the Opening Ceremony, you must register for the event on or before Thursday, August 27.

We encourage you to send us a photo of you running with it. You might be featured on our social media pages!  #SYRWFR


Are Race Bibs transferable?

No, race bibs may not be transferred to another runner, even in the event that the registered runner cannot participate.

All registrants must agree to the waiver of participation.


How long is registration open?

Registration is open from July 16 to September 24 at 5 PM.


What does my registration fee cover?

Entry fees cover the operational costs of organizing the event, race t-shirt, race bib, and a per-participant donation to the charity beneficiary, Rescue Mission Alliance.


How do I submit my 5K time?

You can keep track of your miles and time using any fitness app - Strava, MapMyRun, Apple Watch, Fitbit, etc.

Who is the event beneficiary? 
The event beneficiary is Rescue Mission Alliance. Click HERE to learn more about their mission and the work they do.


What award categories are offered?

The 2020 Syracuse WorkForce Virtual Run will not have awards for individual runners.

However, you can get amped up with our Most Creative T-Shirt Contest!  This classic contest calls on your company's creative side.  Use the logos below to create a Race Day T-Shirt to show off and compete for the title of Most Creative!  

​*All T-shirt design entries must be pre-submitted with a .pdf or .jpg file to by August 20, 2020 for judging.

The Most Creative T-Shirt Winner will be recognized during the Start Ceremony on Race Night.  Don't forget to tag us #SYRWFR!
